Montreal’s restaurant operators are banding together for a new initiative called Nouveaux Voisins to support RIVO, an organization that provides services to newly arrived refugees of all nationalities. Participating restaurants — including Sumac, Joe Beef, Nora Gray, Grumman 76, Loïc, Honey Martin and many more — will keep donation boxes in house, and the project launches with a benefit show tonight at Turbo Haus featuring John Jacob Magistery and Beat Cops. 5011 Notre-Dame W., 8 p.m., $15

Two great comedy nights are going down tonight to help keep you cheery during the stressful holiday rush: head to the MainLine for A Very Merry Improvised Holiday Special with three troupes of Improv comics hosted by Laura Flynn (3997 St-Laurent, 8 p.m., $8) or check out the December edition of Power 10 at ComedyWorks, where six comedians including Natalie Willett, Rodney Ramsey and Andrew Searles each get 10 minutes to knock your stockings off (1238 Bishop, 8:30 p.m., $15)

Head to l’Esco to see local psych band Chairs, Future States and Rakam. 4467 St-Denis, 8:30 p.m., $7
