Basia Bulat, one of 25 acts playing Passovah’s show today

In recent days we’ve mentioned holiday artisan sales Puces POP and Salon des metiers d’art, but there are a lot more of these pop-up shops happening in Montreal, and buying your gifts there is a great way to support local artists and craftspeople. See our event listings for more.

Sure it’s been a mild winter so far, but outdoor concerts? Really? Well apparently yes: Noël dans le parc at Parc des Compagnons de St-Laurent has been staging outdoor shows for a week now, and today’s line-up has Lakes of Canada headlining, with opening sets by Crocjazz and Dan Cowboy. Mont-Royal & Cartier, 2 p.m., free

The Segal Centre’s current production is Tribes, a play by British writer Nina Raine about identity and belonging, with a stellar performance by lead actor Jack Volpe. Tribes is on twice today, and continues through next Sunday, Dec. 20. 5170 Côte-Ste-Catherine, 2 and 7 p.m., $59, or $24.50 for students, $35 for non-students under 30 and $53 for seniors

The sixth annual Passovah Holiday Lovedown presents a (possible) record 25 bands and one DJ at Bar le Ritz PDB. Feast your eyes on the line-up here. 179 Jean-Talon W., 4 p.m., PWYC (proceeds going to Action Réfugiés Montréal)

Elusive and somewhat mysterious band We R Dying 2 Kill U are playing a rare show at Alexandraplatz tonight, and according to our heaviosity specialist Johnson Cummins, it’s a must-see. 6731 Esplanade, 8 p.m., free
