Some truly stellar hardcore, punk, metal, noise, weird synth and balls-out rock gigs are happening in Montreal.

facebookEven though Jack Frost is just starting to nip at our necks don’t kid yourself buckos, we are still in festival season. For those of you still burning up with festival fever scroll down straight to the weekend and freak yerself out!

Thursday: This better be packed to the tits as this 25th Hour tour is just fuggin’ nuts. For those of you who like your punch-the-floor hardcore, check it: Misanthropic legends Terror with Take Offense, Malfunction and Blind Justice at le Ritz. Extra punk points if you bust out a basketball jersey. 179 Jean-Talon W., 7 p.m., $20/$25

For a night of psyched-out pop and nocturnal funk, you can catch Strange Perception, Devil’s Din and Vampire Funk Wagon at Exit Bar. 2031 St-Denis, 8 p.m., $7

On a different tip, make your way to Casa for Secretsecret Girl, the Marquis — who launch their EP tonight — the always polite and punctual Taylor Hoodlum Stevenson and Dreamboy. 4873 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $7

Friday: If you are a fan of Endast (RIP), Exes for Eyes or the great webcast The Big James Morning Show, you won’t want to miss the debut of Big James alter-ego and rap artists Cheeto Dust with Full Course, Lex Vegas and Sham at the totally tubular Turbo Haus. 5011 Notre-Dame W., 9 p.m., $10

Cuch Fest continues at la Passe for their third night of their four-night stand with Totem Tabou, Fellin, Turi and the Ghosts, Maxime Gervais, Charrue, Bord A’Bord, Squalor and Garura. 1214 de la Montagne, 8 p.m., $10/PWYC

Saturday: Cuch Fest sews things up with their final night at la Passe with the Band of Peace, Leftovers Diable, Shining Wizard, Telegraphe Jungle, Feefawfum, Tonnes, Empty Brother Paul and capping the fest off with a final freeform jam with all of the bands. 1214 de la Montagne, 8 p.m., $10/PWYC

Barfly remains the place for birthday shows. Half Measures guitarist Scotty Mucklow celebrates another year of stomping on this mortal coil with guest appearances from Ffud and Half Measures (natch) as well as Mucklow’s new thumping combo Night Blazer. 4062 St-Laurent

For a night of pushing the envelope of blips and bleeps and punky synth you can catch Ginger Breaker, Commodifier, Void Vision, Xarah Dion, Denier Sex and Motorkiller at Casa. 4873 St-Laurent, 10 p.m., $10

Sunday: A night of new and improved psych is sure to be had when Melting Faces take the second spot on the bill at Turbo Haus with Running, the punk fuggin’ rawk of Gashrat and Paul Jacobs and the Bathroom scene opening up the night. 5011 Notre-Dame W., 9 p.m., PWYC ($10 suggested)

Monday: For a night of unmitigated mayhem, head to Turbo Haus for Ritual, 68 and Nodirectionhome. 5011 Notre-Dame W., 7:30 p.m., $13/$15

Tuesday: For some fuzz-encrusted gems, do some bong hits and shuffle over to le Ritz for ’70s-style sludge slingers All Them Witches with New Madrid. 179 Jean-Talon W., 9:30 p.m., $11/$14

Parquet Courts, a band that have certainly learned well from Tom Verlaine’s Television and the smash and bash of the Modern Lovers will let their twang coast around the walls of Sala with Pill and No Negative warming up the room. 4848 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $17/$20
