Eyes Wide Shut

Join local start-up les Marchands for a launch party at Midway and enjoy some cocktails enhanced with the company’s product—premium, crystal clear ice and slow-melting ice. 1219 St-Laurent, 7 p.m., free

Local band Kimberly & the Dreamtime play an early show at Casa del Popolo, with openers Lower the Stars and J.P. Mortier. 4873 St-Laurent, 7 p.m., $8/$10

Cirque du Soleil’s new show — debuting tonight and running through Jan. 3 — is Toruk – The First Flight, based on James Cameron’s Avatar. Bell Centre (1909 Canadiens-de-Montreal), 7:30 p.m., tickets from $52.50 (remaining tickets for tonight’s show limited to $98$176 price range)

If you’ve ever seen the masquerade scene from Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut and thought, “I’d like a piece of that,” Plateau establishment the Mayfair Cocktail Bar is hosting a ball inspired by the film — how much, we can’t say, but let’s assume they’re keeping it legal. BYO mask. 451 Rachel E., 9 p.m.

We’re pretty sure this event is inspired by a movie, too: Magic Male Revue is a ladies night at gay Village strip club Stock Bar, which will likely be transformed into a very messy Xmas office party. 1171 Ste-Catherine E., 9 p.m., $10/$15

Party planners Samourais des jungles urbains are throwing a Doozemas Party at Newspeak with Dooze Jackers, John de Fvck, Elo!i, Marc Rémillard and more, with tap beer on for $1 pints before 11 p.m. 1403 Ste-Élisabeth, 10 p.m., $5
