Two vernissages happen today a stone’s throw apart in Mile End. At Espace 40 (160 St-Viateur E. #108, 5 p.m.), check out Pierre-Étienne Massé’s lively paintings and installations with a timely environmental message, then round the corner to Galerie Simon Blais (5420 St-Laurent #100, 6 p.m.) for Catherine Farish’s printed works created from player piano rolls and audio tape.

The TOHU presents a must-see show with Australian acrobatic troupe Gravity & Other Myths, beginning tonight and running through Saturday. 2345 Jarry E., 8 p.m., $20$49

Concordia’s literary journal Soliloquies launches its newest issue tonight at la Vitrola, with readings of fiction and poetry plus live music from Noko. 4602 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., free
