Two vernissages happen today a stone’s throw apart in Mile End. At Espace 40 (160 St-Viateur E. #108, 5 p.m.), check out Pierre-Étienne Massé’s lively paintings and installations with a timely environmental message, then round the corner to Galerie Simon Blais (5420 St-Laurent #100, 6 p.m.) for Catherine Farish’s printed works created from player piano rolls and audio tape.

The TOHU presents a must-see show with Australian acrobatic troupe Gravity & Other Myths, beginning tonight and running through Saturday. 2345 Jarry E., 8 p.m., $20–$49

Concordia’s literary journal Soliloquies launches its newest issue tonight at la Vitrola, with readings of fiction and poetry plus live music from Noko. 4602 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., free

L.A. producer Shlohmo serves up some fresh beats at SAT with Wedidit Collective colleague Nick Melons and local producer/DJ J.u.D. 1201 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $22–$24

Toronto swinging cabaret band A Little Rambunctious turns up the heat at Divan Orange, with a show featuring special performances by burlesque dancers Lulu les Belles Mirettes, Sucre à la Crème and Lady Josephine. 4234 St-Laurent, 9:30 p.m., $10

Le Bleury’s monthly Last Disco in MTL night bring the funk by way of DJs Chromakeys and Docteur Bahar. 2109 Bleury, 11 p.m., free
