Mia Wasikowska and Julianne Moore in Maps to the Stars

The MAI (Montreal, arts interculturels) is hosting a vernissage for Dima Karout’s exhibition Damascus Walls, which explores walls and barriers affecting Syrians as a result of war, from the perspectives of a traveller and a refugee. 3680 Jeanne-Mance, 6 p.m., free

You’ve got to see gory metal band GWAR at least once. Tonight they’ll destroy the Corona Theatre and make a mess of everyone inside. (If you plan on being anywhere close to the stage, bring a rain poncho.) Openers are Corrosion of Conformity. 2490 Notre-Dame W., 7:30 p.m., $28.15/$31.25

R&B drone fetishist/hazy hip hop experimenter Così e Così launches his third and fourth records, Boi Meet Grl and No Irl (on cassette), with Guillaume Vallée, YlangYlang, DREAMBOY and Effet Werther. Casa del Popolo (4873 St-Laurent), 9 p.m., $5/PWYC

The latest David Cronenberg film, Maps to the Stars, must’ve played first-run theatres for about five minutes. We lost track of it after TIFF. Of all places, you can now see the Canadian auteur’s macabre all-star Hollywood takedown (his Player, or Mulholland Drive) at Dollar Cinema. 6900 Decarie Square, 9:10 p.m., $2.50
