Local franco alt-pop band Secret Sun launches their first record, Cold Coast, with a show at le Belmont. 4483 St-Laurent, 5:30 p.m. (performance at 6:30 p.m.), free

Concordia’s VAV Gallery hosts a vernissage of the group show On Colour. 1395 René-Lévesque W., 6–9 p.m., free

Frank is film about an Irish band whose singer hides his face by wearing a fake head at all times. After making the festival rounds this year (from Sundance to Fantasia — see our review here), the film, starring Michael Fassbender and Maggie Gyllenhaal, screens at  the Phi Centre tonight, and tomorrow night. 407 St-Pierre, 7:30 p.m., $11.25
