There are 10 vernissages happening in the city today (see the full list here), among them the launch of a group show at Rack, a gallery space with a brand new complex in St-Henri called Espace Notre-Dame3714 Notre-Dame W., 5 p.m., free

The Mile End branch of super-popular vegetarian restaurant la Panthère Verte (who make arguably the best falafel sandwich on the island) is moving into bigger digs a couple of blocks west on St-Viateur (corner Casgrain) and they’re throwing a party to mark the occasion. 160 St-Viateur W., 5 p.m., free

At la Vitrola, local band Sean Foster & the Vaqueros launch Psychedelic Troubadours: 6 Days on the Island, a film that followed them on their tour of Cuba. 4602 St-Laurent, doors 5 p.m., screening 6 p.m., live set 7 p.m.

The back-to-school street party known as OUMF, begins today and runs through Saturday, bringing live music, DJs and more fun stuff to the UQAM Ghetto (Ste-Catherine to Sherbrooke, Sanguinet to Berri). There are a bunch of great Montreal bands playing tonight, including Jacquemort, le Trouble, le Couleur, Seoul and Karim Ouellet. De Maisonneuve & St-Denis, 7-11 p.m., free
