The Festival Mode & Design begins today, bringing a series of fashion shows (6:30 to 9 p.m.), a DJ set by Matt Silver and performance by Foreign Diplomats (7 p.m.) and an audio-visual spectacle called Mouvement (9 p.m.) to the Place des Festivals. Ste-Catherine & Jeanne Mance, free

The Passovah music festival launches with a party at Nouveau Palais feat. DJ Pas Cha. 281 Bernard W., 8 p.m., free

The Vibrators, veterans of London’s ’70s punk scene, play Foufs with Jimmy Target & the Triggers, Brutal Cherie and the Bombs. 87 Ste-Catherine E., 8 p.m., $13 advance

Making her first local appearance since the Wheel Club launch of her album The Cape in May, Montreal folk singer Sarah Jane Scouten plays Casa del Popolo with opener Kevin Moquin and the Bad Ideas. 4873 St-Laurent, 8:30 p.m., $5
