Sonic Avenues

The first of three full-on St-Laurent street sales of 2014 closes the Main from Sherbrooke to Mont-Royal today through Sunday and this one is extra special: The second annual MURAL Fest brings artists from all over to paint walls up and down the boulevard, co-producing a bunch of parties while they’re at it. MEG’s block party is planned for today, and Saintwoods’ for tomorrow, but given the weather…well, it’s not looking good for either of them. Keep an eye on their Facebook event pages (here and here) for updates, and see all you need to know about MURAL’s art & parties here.

As it’s mostly happening indoors, the Mondial de la Bière is a good bet today. See our reviews & photos from yesterday’s opening day of the fest here.

Experimental literary arts zine Four Minutes to Midnight is back after an extended hiatus, launching its 13th edition today — it features visual art, writing and design by such contributors as Dutch designers Experimental Jetset, local author Jacob Wren and photographer Vo Thien Viet. Formats (2 Ste-Catherine E., #302), 5–7 p.m.

As part of Cineplex Odeon’s National Theatre Live series you can check out Adam Penford’s A Small Family Business on the big screen. Forum Cinema (2313 Ste-Catherine W.), 7 p.m., $12.99

Local garage rockers Sonic Avenues launch a record with openers UBT, Pale Lips and Needles//Pins. Casa del Popolo (4873 St-Laurent), 8:30 p.m., $10

M 4 Mikey is back in the club-night-hosting business, this time with DJ Roxy Moron’s Booby Trap at Rockette. Tonight’s event features a DJ set by local band Seoul. 4479 St-Denis, 10:30 p.m., free
