The ongoing Suoni per il Popolo music festival presents a screening of seven experimental short films by such talents as Derek Jarman and William S. Burroughs. La Vitrola (4602 St-Laurent), 7 p.m., free

Highly recommended at the FrancoFolies festival is Doody & Kami, an electro-zouk/konpa duo (accompanied by seven musicians tonight) playing two sets at the open-air Hydro-Québec stage. De Maisonneuve & Jeanne-Mance, 6 and 8 p.m., free
