Richie Hawtin

Yesterday, Canadian techno giant Richie Hawtin announced that he would be playing an impromptu “dotUP” show on the esplanade of Places des Arts today. He’s in town for the EM15 (MUTEK + Elekta) festival, which also has a stack of free events happening today and through the week. 175 Ste-Catherine W., 5–7 p.m., free

After postponing the event due to rain yesterday, Poirier and Ghostbeard are ready to bring the noise back to Terrasse St-Ambroise today with the first edition of their summer monthly, Sud West — think beats, bass, BBQ & beer.
