The Montreal Canadiens beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4–3 Tuesday night, completing their first-round series with a four-game sweep in the NHL playoffs.

Fans immediately bolted out of the Bell Centre to celebrate in the streets. Flag-waving, “ole ole”-chanting and plastic Stanley Cup-hoisting moved from the arena onto Ste-Catherine, and it was a peaceful party — a strong police presence prevented the kind of playoff mayhem we witnessed back in ’08.
