Assommoir

At the resto-bar’s locations in Mile End and Old Montreal, there’ll be food, drink and dancefloor merriment with music by DJs Bliss and DeShawy (respectively). Bain Mathieu

The people behind Speakeasy Electro-Swing host their first New Year’s Eve Party, promising electro-swing & blues music care of DJs Eliazar, Khalil, Don Mescal (with clarinetist Jean-Sébastien Leblanc), Pranapapa and Gwen, performances by la Troupe de Cirque Carmagnole and hula-hooper Jamye La Luna, a midnight ball-drop & complimentary round of bubbly and visuals fit for the majestic Bain Mathieu, which will be transformed into a “Prohibition-era madhouse,” and further enhanced by VJ BXL. Le Belmont

The poets, singers, MCs, dancers and musicians of local supergroup Kalmunity Vibe Collective lay their “live organic improv” on party people at le Belmont, with a live set by Jai Nitai Lotus and more music from DJ Bow Tie Willie. The New Year’s Eve edition of Blizzarts’ Friday night hip hop weekly Get Nice promises top-shelf rap care of DJ Simahlak & friends, good vibes, drink specials and a round of champagne at midnight. Cirque de Boudoir hosts the fifth annual Carnavalesque, a flurry of circus, burlesque & fetish performance with open bar and MC/host Plastik Patrik. L’Escogriffe

Xavier Caféïne plays live and DJs Maxime Hébert, Ben Gromko and Cedric Marinelli fill out the soundtrack for l’Esco’s NYE bash, where there’ll be a round of champagne at midnight and perhaps some late-night karaoke. Foufounes Electriques

In an effort to please the different demographics that crowd into Montreal’s notorious alternative club complex, Foufs has a three-tiered party planned: on the ground floor, DJ Colt45 spins Foufs 101, ie. the ghost of Foufs past, classic alt bangers from the past 30 years; in the disco space, DJ Mutante spins dance music and the best of 2013; and in the garage, versatile cover band Polo et les Jeepsters play the music of Bowie, the Ramones, the Sex Pistols, the Misfits, the Clash and more, with drink specials and a complimentary round of bubbly at midnight all over the club. Hyatt Regency

Keenest Productions and Montreall.com offer up a two-tiered fancy-dress (that’s suit and tie) affair: option one includes a three-course meal, two bottles of wine per table and open bar from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. ($175), option two skips the meal but includes open bar from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. ($95) and option three is simply a general admission ticket ($60), with optional bottle service for extra dollars. The third annual Slaves on Dope & friends New Year’s bash features live punk and metal care of Death Lullaby, the Catayst, Pronostic, Alleycat Traffic, the Bombs, the Grove, Kruhl, Evertrapped, Fist of Freedom, Green Jelly tribute band Cereal Killers, ’80s metal cover band Leather Up Your Ass, DJ Wax and of course headliners Slaves on Dope. NYE Coalition is a secret-location party (what was once referred to as a “rave”) coproduced by Hardtimes Prod., Tekno Agricole and MTL. Bassix. The second annual edition of this event features a huge stack of DJs, musicians, VJs and a reportedly fierce sound system. Various venues

Student Tours’ New Year’s Eve Club Crawl, which will be happening simultaneously in 12 other Canadian cities, starts at Gerts on the McGill campus and hits four (unnamed) downtown nightclubs via a party bus. Entry to the clubs is included in the club crawl ticket, and organizers promise that there will be no line-ups to get in. Wiggle Room
