Said the Whale

Infinitheatre brings literature to the stage with Kafka’s Ape, a restyling of the Czech author’s “A Report to the Academy” that drags its message into the 21st century. Bain St-Michel (5300 St-Dominique), 8 p.m., $20/$25

The Grinders Comedy Lab mixes up bilingual open-mic theatre, comedy, beatboxing, improv and stand-up — pretty much anything you might think to do on a stage. Theatre Ste-Catherine (264 Ste-Catherine E.), 8:30 p.m., $7

If you’re a hip hop purist or (God forbid) a ‘90s apologist, take note: Pete Rock and CL Smooth and Camp Lo are on one bill tonight. Cabaret Underworld (1403 Ste-Elisabeth), 8:30 p.m., $25/$30

You can catch two films at the PHI Centre this evening: Noche, about the impact of sound on time (7:30 p.m., $11.25) and Woody Allen’s latest, Blue Jasmine (9:15 p.m., $6.25). 407 St-Pierre

Vancouver indie rockers Said the Whale bring their Hawaii album-launch tour to town, with Kopecky Family Band and Alvvays. La Sala Rossa (4848 St-Laurent), 8:30 p.m., $15
