The Blue Metropolis literary fest is in full force today, with more readings, book launches and discussion panels than any one bibliophile can possibly consume. Some highlights include the amazing line-up of authors presented by The Walrus, a panel about music criticism, a reading by TO poet Julie Bruck and a slate of local writers at Acting Local. Check out our post for all of Cult MTL’s festival recommendations.

The Vues d’Afrique film festival continues today with additional screenings of recommended film Kinshasa Kids. Read our post for a complete look at the festival. Excentris (3536 St-Laurent), 2 p.m. onward, $10

Check out local band Saxsyndrum, “a granular groove on a beach of beats,” as they play their new record in its entirety. The opener is Holobody at Casa. 4873 St-Laurent, 9 p.m.

The Anachronik festival of vintage music brings local garage rock stars les Breastfeeders to l’Alizé, backed by like-minded bands les Indésirables and Kid Sentiment. 900 Ontario E., 10 p.m., $10/$14/$20 for a festival pass

Blue Dog’s two-part five-year anniversary party continues tonight with resident DJs and SnapShots doing his thing from the photo booth. See our interview with SnapShots’ Jamie Coveny here. 3958 St-Laurent, 10 p.m.
