The Black Angels, tonight at le National

Comic artist Alison Bechdel will be in town to give a talk on her latest graphic novel, the touching, autobiographical Are You My Mother? Known for her trailblazing first book, Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic, her longtime strip Dykes to Watch Out For and, of course, for her eponymous test of a movie’s feminine appeal, Bechdel will give a presentation and talk on her new work, then stick around for a Q&A and book signing. Ukrainian Federation (5213 Hutchison), 7 p.m., $10

Austin psych-rockers the Black Angels descend on le National playing new shit from their fourth record, Indigo Meadow. Openers are California surf-noir band the Allah-las and local “Hindi rockers” Elephant Stone. 1220 Ste-Catherine E., 8 p.m., $18/$20

Psychosexual drama Simon Killer screens at the PHI Centre. 407 St-Pierre, 8:30 p.m., $11.25

Bill Stone’s documentary Triumph of the Wall has its premiere at Excentris. Stone and the film’s subject, Chris Overing, will be in attendance for this special premiere screening. Read our interview with Stone and Overing in this month’s print issue. Excentris (3536 St-Laurent), 8:45 p.m., $11.75

Over at BBAM!, the Franco Proietti Morph-Tet play two sets, while Bad Weather opens. 3255 St-Jacques, 9 p.m., $7

Voytek, Vosper, Jealous Lovers, Darkrainbow and Evan C. are at Il Motore for NBHD, and that’s all you really need to know. 179 Jean-Talon W., 10 p.m., free/$5
