There’s no shortage of lit-related events on offer today. This afternoon, the Mile End Poets’ Festival offers High Wattage: Elements of the Slam Poem, a workshop with Regie Cabico to help you tweak your own performance style. La Sala Rossa (4848 St-Laurent), 1–4 p.m., $10/PWYC

Whether you’re a hardcore Tommy Wiseau fan or a newcomer to contemporary cult classic The Room, don’t miss the screening of this mystifying work of outsider cinema tonight. J.A. de Seve Cinema (1400 de Maisonneuve W.), 7:45 p.m., $13

The Pilot: Commander Adama Loves Nikki Reimer Edition features a lineup of talented young local poets and authors, with readings from Guillaume Morisette, Nikki Reimer and Sarah Brunning. Sparrow (5322 St-Laurent), 8 p.m., free
