The Legend of Suram Fortress

Film fans should wander down to the sixth annual Ciné-Bazar, where various film companies and cinematic memorabilia dealers peddle their wares. Centre du Plateau, St-Joseph E., 9 a.m–4 p.m., $2

The weekly free series overlooking the career of legendary Soviet-era filmmaker Sergei Parajanov continues. On the program today are The Legend of Suram Fortress, Parajanov’s 1984 comeback after years spent in the gulag, Han Han Li’s animated short Prayer Beads and Tatiana Lévesque’s lecture “Narrative Structure in Folktales.” See the full schedule here and read our interview with programmer Marcin Wisniewski here. Galerie [SAS] welcomes a new exhibit called Ambivalence: Shape and Shapelessness, focusing on the relationship between shape and art. The show, curated by Fred Laforge, features five Quebec artists. SAS (Belgo Building, 372 Ste-Catherine W., #416), 4 p.m., free
