One of the biggest and brightest names in the Canadian art scene is FINALLY having a big solo show in Montreal. Tonight is the vernissage for Michael Snow’s exhibit, bringing a collection of Snow’s photographs, video and sound pieces and installations since the 1960s, curated by Louise Déry. Galerie de l’UQAM (1400 Berri, Pavillon Judith-Jasmin, J-R120), 5:30 p.m., free

A new exhibit explores the intersections between nature and politics. Called De la nature, the show features works that explore the relationships between art and science, nature and technology, as well as questioning our artistic and social approaches to both. Parisian Laundry ushers in two new exhibits this evening. In the main gallery, check out Jennifer Lefort’s Beacon (In Colour), while the smaller display space will house new work by Sam Jelroy-Bois. Parisian Laundry (3550 St-Antoine W), 6–8 p.m., free

Vidéographe and WWTWO have teamed up for a double launch: a party to welcome the gallery’s new exhibit, a group exhibit called Grace Notes curated by Stacey Ho, as well as to celebrate Vithèque, a platform for viewing art. WWTWO (170 Jean-Talon W.), 7:30 p.m.–1:30 a.m., free

See the live debut of all-star ensemble Orkestar Kriminal, specialists in old-school Eastern European and Mediterranean ghetto music, with support from fellow locals Brassmob and Ichka. Club Lambi (4465 St-Laurent), 8:30 p.m., $8

Shake your ass for a good cause at Blizzarts tonight, when the Mile End Legal Clinic holds its annual fundraising shindig. On hand to provide tunes — though not legal advice — will be DJs F.U.N.K. and Classi Assi. 3956 St-Laurent, 9 p.m., $10 suggested donation
