The Idle No More movement soldiers ever onward. Today, those who sympathize with Chief Theresa Spence and the struggle of Canada’s First People will gather for a peaceful protest at the Palais des congrès. 1001 Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle, 1–5 p.m.

Five of Montreal’s hottest young English-language writers will be reading at the Next Wave of Montreal Writers. Catch local talents Gleb Wilson, Emma Healey, Jacob Spector, Guillaume Morissette and Ashley Broadbent sharing new work. Drawn & Quarterly (211 Bernard W.), 7 p.m., free

In case you’re still on the fence about global climate change, check out Chasing Ice, a documentary using time-lapse photography to chronicle the melting polar ice caps, opening tonight at Cinéma du Parc. 3575 Parc, 7 p.m., $11.50

The Bouge d’Ici festival launches tonight, with an opening performance by the Sora, a promising local choreographic collective who will be debuting their first complete piece. Mainline Theatre (3997 St-Laurent), 8 p.m., $8–$10

Cramps-inspired band the Maü-Maü play their debut show at l’Esco with local ghouls the Crypt Club. L’Escogriffe (4467 St-Denis), 9 p.m., $8
