Environmental nightmare? Behind the Christmas Tree, at Biosphère, investigates. Photo via Flickr.

If you’ve ever questioned the consumerism that colours Christmas, check out Behind the Christmas Tree, an unflinching look at its environmental impact. Today is your last day to do so. Biosphère (160 Tour-de-l’Isle), 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Ocean Waves, a Tomomi Mochizuki flick so rare you won’t even find it on DVD here, screens as part of Cinéma du Parc’s Studio Ghibli retrospective. 3575 Parc, 5:30 p.m.

See Cagibi’s Xmas horror movie double bill, featuring a pair of cult classics from 1984: Silent Night Deadly Night and Gremlins. 5490 St-Laurent, 7 p.m., free

Is your spirit not yet sufficiently Christmas-y? Well, then, les Grands Ballets’ annual production of holiday classic The Nutcracker should trigger those warm, fuzzy, nostalgic feelings of Christmases past. Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier (Place-des-Arts, 175 Ste-Catherine W.), 7:30 p.m., $28-$110
