It’s your last day to check out Through the Eyes of Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, a huge exhibit of the pandrogeny pioneer’s art, music and sound recordings, body modification practices and video work. Galerie La Centrale Powerhouse (4296 St-Laurent), 12-8 p.m.

V/H/S is a collaborative horror film from left-field genre directors Adam Wingard, David Bruckner, Ti West, Glenn McQuaid, Joe Swanberg and the collective Radio Silence. It opens tonight, and to keep things even more underground, the film is playing exclusively at Cineplex Côte-des-Neiges. Get your thrills and your out-of-the-way neighbourhood exploration taken care of all at once! 6700 Côte-des-Neiges

Go for the 1-2 punch at Foufs tonight. The Mahones get things started with a free show at 6 p.m., with the Brains and friends following shortly thereafter for a pre-Halloween bonanza. Foufounes Électriques (87 Ste-Catherine E.), Mahones at 6 p.m., free; The Brains w/ Nailheads, Rug and Ol’ School Johnny, 7:30 p.m., $10

By some estimations the greatest active band you could hope to see live, Swans, make a somewhat rare local appearance tonight. They’ll be joined by Albuquerque, N.M.’s A Hawk and a Hacksaw.  La Tulipe (4530 Papineau), 7 p.m., $20 in advance/$25 door

It’s Halloween! Before you break out your sexy Columbo costume and hit the streets, though, take a look at our party recommendations.
