It’s opening day for the month-long run of Guys and Dolls, the classic musical theatre tale of gambling, vice and dodging the feds, directed by Diana Leblanc and playing for the next month. Segal Centre (5170 Côte-Ste-Catherine), 1:30 p.m., tickets start at $29

The Montreal Black Film Festival wraps up with acclaimed documentary The Central Park Five. Cinéma Imperial (1430 Bleury), 7 p.m., $25

Writers Read Concordia and MATRIX Magazine present The Pilot Returns, a series of conceptual readings by authors Hildebrand Pam Dick, Candice Maddy, Simon Wake, Michael Nardone and derek beaulieu. Sparrow (5322 St-Laurent), 8 p.m.

If you like your punk rock with dancing shoes on, Gossip and Magic Mouth are the bands to see.  Olympia (1004 Ste-Catherine E.), 8 p.m., $25/$28
