The Monday after Pop is always bittersweet. You don’t want it to end but your body is glad it’s over. You don’t know what to do with yourself other than turn up some music really loud and rock out in your apartment, if only in a fetal position. That’s what the Cult MTL music team is doing today, and sharing our memories from last night. Many many bands have played these songs live, and there have been notable recorded covers by Bauhaus (“Ziggy Stardusrt”) and Seu Jorge (Portuguese versions of several tracks for the soundtrack of A Life Aquatic), but rarely has any of them achieved more than triggering a craving for the originals.
To celebrate their own 10th year of operation, and the 40th anniversary of the Ziggy Stardust record, Paper Bag and their primo roster of Canadian talent rose to the challenge. And the results are truly impressive.
