Ultrathin

Fact: there are people who skateboard better than you but aren’t old enough to drink a beer or  drive a car. Today, these 15-and-unders will compete for cash, gear and glory at the Rookie of the Year 2012 contest. Taz skatepark (8931 Papineau), 10 a.m.-6 p.m., free for spectators

Over at Fantasia, Jennifer Lynch and co-writer Damian O’Donnell will be on hand for the world premiere of Chained, Lynch’s contribution to film’s serial killer canon. Hall Theatre (1455 de Maisonneuve W.), 7:10 p.m., $9/$10

Pirates of the Lachine Canal and Loose Fit bring a little alt, in the form of Dope Body, Ultrathin and Plush Kitty, to an old-school Québécois tavern. Brasserie Beaubien (73 Beaubien E.), 9 p.m., $5
