Help Trigger Effect kick off their North American tour by heading over to 205 Fest!, a showcase of bands who share a jam space, some members and altogether too much saliva. Pop Montreal presents a free screening of Rock the Bells, a critically lauded documentary on one man’s effort to mount a Wu-Tang Clan reunion show. Parc de la Paix, DJs and BBQ at 7 p.m., film at 9 p.m., free

Want to head off the island for the day? Consider the Chambly Bières et Saveurs festival (aka beerfest), which runs all weekend. Shuttles leave from Bonaventure (see CIT website for schedules and here for other transport options). Aug. 31–Sept. 3, runs until 8:30 p.m., $12
